Just wondering - decks
Was just wondering what yalls favorite mower decks to use. Personally I have had 38 42 48 44a and 50a and my favorite would have to be the 48 for cleanest cut. What are yalls favorite

I like and use a 54 in deck under my 2084. I would use a bigger one but the 54 just fits through my shed doors. I used a 42 in on a 102 for many years but always seemed to have problems with leveling the deck and or getting all three blades to be even.

With my son, EricR Super 2084 with 54" mower, 451 blower. 2086 with 3 pt hitch, 54 inch deck, 551 blower, 54 in brinly blade. A 4 digit original w deck. A 70 with deck. 2 102s both with 42 in decks, one with creeper, 1 36 inch IH snow thrower CW36, 1 42 inch IH blade. 149 with mower. 2072 w 3 pt hitch, Johnny bucket, 60 in mower, 451 blower. Jacobson GT 10 with mower. DR Lawn vac tow behind,Home made lawn roller. Brinly cart, 2 off brand carts and 1 home made cart.

I've used a 48" under a 125/147 and a 50" under a 782. The 48" are the best IMO for cut/look.

My vote would be for a 44" deck. They are more manueverable and fit in tighter spots than a 50". If you have the deck set level, a speed up pulley, and gator blades, these decks mow great! (Having then set up correctly and tuned perfectly make the difference). My 2 cents worth and preference.

I like the ability of a longer reach of a Haban 60 under fence and trees....never understood the reasoning of a 50" on a Super....If it can carry it run it.

I agree on the bigger decks. My CC zero turn has a 60 inch deck on it and it mows great in the wide open spaces.
But, I also have a wind break planted and buildings to mow around. The 60 inch deck is too big for these areas. I know some guys/gals have gates to go through and the 60 inchers prolly wouldn't fit. So each sized deck has its place. On a side note, I've seen some of the older 38 inch cast iron end decks on 70's and 100's do one heck of a nice job mowing, too. All depends on the setup of the deck and sharpness of the blades.
