So Friday morning before work, as per morning routine, I checked several local Craigslists for any new Cub postings. I happened across a 2182 within 2 hours of me, listed as "ran earlier this spring, then quit. $350". I looked, and the posting was only 14 minutes old. I texted the guy telling him I'll take it (I figure even if the engine is toast, there's still plenty of parts), then texted one of my local Cub buddies. He's been eyeing for a Super, so I told him about it. Long story short, I graciously bowed out and let him get dibs on it. I had a feeling it was something simple and stupid as to why it stopped, and I wasn't wrong. As the day progressed, I received pic after pic of his progress. Didn't run when he got there, so they loaded it and he headed home. He got it home, charged the dead battery, a couple shots of ether, fresh fuel, and it started right up. $350 for a running 2182; deal of the day! Bad thing is, plastics are a bit beat up and the hour meter quit working at like 60 hours, so no telling how many hours are on the engine. Today, he's mowing with his new Super.
I'm glad he got it, and I know it is in good hands with him and will remain a keeper. However, I keep kicking myself for letting it go!! Anywho, here's a few pics he sent me to show the deal of the day.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Smokin deal on the super. I would have had a hard time letting that one go as well.

Oh you guys nailed it on the head! We had a few messages exchanged after the fact about the whole thing and I told him "Next good deal like that that comes up, it's mine!!".
If anyone's interested, he mowed with it today and said he was thoroughly impressed by the Kubota. He's always been a narrow frame guy, through and through, so I sent him a message saying "So, still a narrow frame guy, or has thing machine pulled you over to the dark side?". His response: "Oh indeed it has". Judging by the amount of texts I got from him about he machine, along with pics, I think he's in love! He's already talking about getting Ag's on all 4 corners, getting a 54gt deck for it, and a blade, and a blower, and the fender flares, and.....

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
