Default The deer plot
Happy Memorial Day everyone, I had a great day yesterday. We tilled and seeded our deer plot and it even rained to set the seed for a couple hours. Then we cooked some ribs. Special Thanks to Jeff for the parts that made this happen.

Very cool
The food fest after the planting is always a good time.
What is the tube used for that your dumping the contents of the bag in?
We got our last one planted two weeks ago. They did well with the rain the day after. It's the earlier ones that didn't have rain for two weeks that don't look so good.

That is a feeder we are putting corn in. The deer and the squirrels and turkey love corn. The feeder is removed well before the season opens.

Amazing how well these cub tillers work. A second pass would allow you to drop to full depth. ( if needed )

I did try the second pass around the outside perimeter and it did great. But we only needed 1 to 2 inches deep for the clover and oat seeds and it rained for two hours 5 minutes after we got done, so we should have a good crop. The last time we planted clover was 5 years ago and this was the first year it didn't come back, so I hope this last another 4 years.

Ah, I see. But wouldn't the feeder attract the critters and with all the traffic lessen the chances of the seeds in that area from germinating?
Do you spray the area in advance of working it with a glyphosate, to help with weed control?
Getting five years out of a clover is real good. What do you do for yearly maintenance on it? How often do you all fertilize? We've been fertilizing spring and fall and also frost seed existing clover and other perennial plots which makes them last longer between re-plants.
