Sealing Trailer Deck Boards
I am needing to put a sealer on my trailer deck boards for the first time and was interested in what you all have done, what product you have had the best results with.

You might try sealer meant for house decks. It is usually good for 3-4 yrs.

I am sure this will cause some controversy, but, used motor oil is a great wood preservative. And, it's free. I painted a fence with it. after 7 years the wood looked nearly the same. Albeit we don't get much rain here, it was more like adding sunscreen.

Thompson's Waterseal
I just did my 7' by 16' Landscape trailer using a gallon of Thompson's Waterseal- Clear, $17 at Wal-Mart. I used a 1/2" nap Roller and a disposable plastic tray, disposable gloves too. 15 minutes and I was done, throw everything but the roller handle away. I had already pressure washed it and let it dry for a few days. The last treatment lasted about 3 years and it sits outside year round.

If your going to seal it you need to wait abut 6 months for the wood to dry . It's just like building a deck with new treated lumber.

I used thompsons water seal that was honey color, just did it a few weeks ago. I used a pump up sprayer and was done in a few minutes.
