2072 hydro surges
I think I have seen this touched on in other posts. My 2072 hydro will sometimes surge when you turn the steering wheel, especially if you go to full travel. If it was just a little I wouldn't bother with it, but its a pretty strong jump. I don't run this machine very often but have noticed this problem developing over the summer. Sounds like a winter repair. Where should I start checking?

That is normal. Nothing to fix. It's a simple case of pressure. When you "hit the stops" with the steering, you max out the charge pressure. When charge pressure increases, so does drive pressure. SO, the machine speeds up.
There are actually 2 relieve valves on the charge pump on that machine. One on the "power beyond" and one for charge pressure. You can try replacing the valve for the charge pressure, but I doubt you notice much change. Plus, from CCC, that valve is like $200. Only other place you can get it is from Saur/Danfoss and it's like $190, so.... yeah, it's expensive. Not worth it, because it won't "fix" it.

All my hydros do that to some extent. When you hit a stop with either the steering wheel or even raising an implement you can feel a bit of surge. My 2072 has about what I would say is the best hydro in that it slows very little even going steep uphill but I still notice a bit of a surge when I max out the steering.

It has always surged some, but its getting much worse. Everything else about this hydro is great, I changed all the wear items (springs, buttons, plates) and shimmed it up about 100 hrs ago.
Can you rebuild the valves? I've never paid any attention to how they are made as they don't usually give trouble.
