Cool the 2284.

Funny looking.
has p/s.
tilt column.
Rear turning brakes.
54 mower.
new battery.
no grill.
no leaks.
got it for a Lew price.
no smoke or funny noises out of the motor.
missing side panels
looks funny
drove it around and hydro needs adj.
when you turn the wheel to the right , you can keep turning it even though the tires are fully to the right, to the left it stops turning when the tires are fully to the left.
funny looking .
Driveshaft surprisingly is not loose or wobbly.
rear end bolts are not missing or stripped out.

not a keeper,

What is funny looking about it? Beauty is in the eye of the BEER HOLDER LMAO. Trust me it will grow on you ask me how I know. I'm on about number 20 Cyclops that have come and gone but so far they have all left in running condition. That is not all that bad. Side panels are no big deal for the air cooled guys. I have a so so set in my barn. I'm sure you can find a cheap set.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
