I bought two new mule drive pulleys at a local shop that sells bearings, pulleys etc. They must be a common size. They had them in stock.

Does your local farm supply store have a pulley shelf ? The TSC stores seem to always stock every pulley you could need but one of you other cub owners grabs the last cub sized pulleys off the rack minutes before I arrive there...lol. Your local bearing wholesaler is also a good place to check.
The belt tightener can be made from a piece of all thread and a washer....Not that I have done that , of course..lol. And as Roland says, the sponsors and your local CC dealers also may be able to help.

This is what can happen when one uses cheap cast or stamped steel mule drive pulleys....

I would like to buy some good quality parts for this.
Also I see lot of owners have 2 tighteners on their drives, I have one and a spring, is it necessary to have 2 tighteners?

yes, you need two tighteners if you are using a tiller. i fabricated one out of 1/4" plate and a good quality 5/16" bolt, fender washer, normal washer and installed that in the big hole next to the spring hole. there is a "step/slotted" tightener but it will not work on your mule drive if you dont have that slot on the right(spring) side.
you will find reference to both the solid pulley and tightener in the tiller manual in the tech library.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
