I may go look at a 2072 this weekend, can anyone tell me what the biggest problems with them were/are?

Flex disc couplers on the drive-shaft, cracking transmission mounts, magnum fuel pump diaphragm leaking into crank case. Trunnion, and some with power steering valve leaking issues. But...they are one stout machine! I LOVE my 2072.,almost enough to bring it in the house

Shaner is right. The front trans mounts would be the first thing to look at. The rest is easily fixed. Well the steering box would be a pain and Sams braces would take care of the trans mount. But they are good bargaining points if there is a problem.
I love mine so much I spent a bunch on it. And I ain't done yet!

Another problem is the non-adjustable carburetor. There's not a lot you can do with them. You can replace the throttle shaft and put in a bushing so it doesn't lean out the mixture so much.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester.
