John Deere makes some great garden tractors, but I had an x300 and, even though I used it heavily and a little too hard, the trans is failing after only about 7 years, and lots of people have this problem, abusive or not. This is because they used in the x300 the same trans that they use in the cheaper models. The x310 has power lift, steering, and a slightly better hydro, but I feel that for a fairly heavy duty trans you need to go up to the X500 series, but don't get me wrong, the Deere's are still great machines.
