Default Basket case 2182 I'm buying.

https://rochester.craigslist.org/grd/4852795573.html

I answered this CL ad and the guy who seemed pretty decent. He said I can get this machine for $300. Said he will start it and drive it onto my trailer. I have not picked it up yet, so I could lose it to another buyer, but I hope not. I'm thinking it will be a good deal, just gotta figure out what I'm gonna do with it, part it out to my 1512, or try to put life back into this my first super. Keep in mind all I have to go on right now is this ad and the fact that it does run.

Comments, opinions wanted.

Get it. The deck is worth 200-300 if it is not rusted out. He says it runs so it could be a parts machine for a future project.

Thanks guys, yeah work often gets in the way of deals that I come across. I want to already have it in my possession but worked till 8 pm today. Well if it goes before I get there not much I can do.
I can't wait to see how much this super needs, by the looks of the pics it might be a better doner than runner just like CDF is thinkin. Thanks for the comments

A tough one. The problem with fixing it is that you will need parts from somewhere... And the problem with parting it is finding another tractor that happens to need to pieces that this one has.

I tend to lean towards fixing (to a fault). Will be interesting to see what it turns out to be and what you do with it!!

First off, get that one asap! Second, I would lean towards fixing it up. If it runs, the hard part is over. Clean it up, touch up some paint, new fuel lines, filter, trans fluid/filter change, yada yada yada. "All" you'll need is body panels and absolute worst case those can be bought new but I'm sure with a little patience you can find a solid used set out there

For $300 it's a no brainer. Get your butt on the road before someone else does.

I'm with everyone else. Get over there and get it! If it were me, I wouldn't post links to a tractor you want until you snag it, especially when it's a Lew price. Not saying anyone on here would sneak in, but........... (not me, I'm too far away )

With that said, get it and check it over to see what it needs or doesn't need. You're paying for the deck and getting the blade/tractor for free.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
