Default 48" GT Deck

Went to MTD for the deck information.

All I got was a snowblower manual, ugh. Kind of thought it would be easier to get a manual.

Model Number 317190 and the Serial Number 480810. Where might I find this much needed manual?

Am I wrong thinking, "Shouldn't expect much from MTD?"

I just tried using the same numbers and no good. Give Cub a call 1-877-428-2349

Here is a link to Parts Tree http://www.partstree.com/parts/?lc=c...17+48%22+Mower
At least you can see how it goes together. If you check our tech library you can download similar mower manuals. Pretty much if you seen or worked on one you can do the others.

Found one to download, did, and workin' on the deck. On the site you don't need to be a member, just move the words (lower right) into the proper catagories. Thanks Cannon.

See why I'm not smart enough to scan one.

This mower deck seems to be very heavy duty, not an MTD big store "thingy."

Is this Haban? Or just an early MTD before the CCC products took a nose dive?

48GT's are nice decks. They are MTD but still pretty decent. Just don't let grass build up under the belt guards, they rot pretty fast. Keep after the paint and grease it and it should give you good service. No it's not a Haban, Haban decks are 60" wide and only fit the Supers. The real Haban's were built prior to the Cyclops series. The 60" for the Cyclops has a pivoting wheel design that makes them easier to remove or install but it seems to be more prone to damage. Just my non professional opinion.

The deck is covered but, was greased, blades spun, cleaned. Rusty, oh yeah it is.
No rust holes, just peeling paint.

This deck does have four greaseable and rotating wheels. Very heavy duty. Drive belts, PTO and deck look good but, will be new before I install the deck.

The deck manual says, "Cub Cadet Corporation" of course, no mention of (yuk) MTD.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
