Hi, I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. When I purchased my 1572 it did not have a seat safety switch, it was bypassed. Recently I purchased a NOS switch from IHCCW INC, but I do not know how to properly mount it.
I'm hoping someone would post a picture of a similar tractor with one installed. Thanks, Dennis F |

Hi dad!
Here's a picture of the switch my father purchased. By the way, my dad is 73 years old and I'm pretty sure this is his 1st post anywhere ever on the internet!

Lets see a pic of the bottom of the seat. There should be a hole on the bottom side but if the seat was changed it may not be there.
Do you have this part of the harness? They may have cut it and stuffed it under the fender pan. It should be an orange and yellow wire that plugs into your new switch. DSCN0525.jpg DSCN0527.jpg

Hello Dennis and Paul. Welcome to the forum Dennis! I don't know how much I can do from here at work, but I'll try. Taking a look at your original photo, I have circled the mounting tabs on the switch in red. If I remember this correctly, as I just replaced the switch on my 1772. With the seat positioned so that the metal part of the base is facing up, you should see a series of 3 square holes. The mounting tabs on the switch should be facing upwards as well as the metal base of the seat. Insert the long metal part off the switch into the large square hole and slide it in so the whole switch is between the metal pan the seat cushion foam. Once all the way inside the seat, simply slide the switch backwards while keeping the switch beneath the metal pan until the mounting clips/fingers can attach/clip onto the strips of metal between the 3 square holes. A picture says a 1000 words and I wish I had one right now of a mounted seat switch.

so with the seat positioned as in the picture. Take the switch with those clips pointed upward and CAREFULLY slide it (from left to right) in the big square hole until the entire switch is located between the foam and the metal base. Position the switch so the clips clip around the metal strip located between the small square hole and the large square hole.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
