I just picked up a 129 yesterday, and would like to set the tractor up for a plow. It does not have a sleeve hitch, and I was wondering if any wide frame sleeve hitch would work? Or does it have to come from a 129, 149, 169 etc?
Thanks. Jeff |

I believe that a sleeve hitch from any cub narrow, wide frame, through the quiet line series will work....But you must have the 3 point for your tractor as well to work with the hitch....hope this helps....Randy

Sorry, that is what I meant to say was the 3 point. Will a 3 point from a 82 series work on the 129?
Thanks. Jeff |

The cast piece and lower bracket will, but the lift bar is completely different. I'd find the correct one, which should be much easier to find than 82 series ones are, anyway.

Here are the differences with the Lift Lever (Upper Casting). The 129 would have this on the rear end of the frame. Pay attention to the welded collars on the frame.
![]() ![]() Starting in the mid Q/L series, this collar disappeared and just a hole was in the same spot. The original lift system used a "shaft" that went through the collars and the Lift Lever. The Second Generation, did away with the shaft and went to the Stud Bolt design (aka: Frankenstein bolts). See image below. ![]() The Lift Lever remained the same, but it depended what your frame setup was that determined whether you need a "shaft" or the "stud bolts" ![]() The shaft, I believe is NLA from Cub Cadet but it is simply 1/2" in Diameter and the length would be just enough tp span the frame width.

I just purchased a 3 pt. hitch from Rich at Patton Acres for my 149. It has the shaft through the lift lever. I'm assuming I have to pull one of the rear wheels and install the shaft through the outer hole, is that correct?

You are correct. That's what we had to do on our 128.

Thanks Mike, that's what I thought but it's always better to ask someone who's been there and done that.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
