Acetone works real good, and in some cases too good. I would try Lacquer Thinner in a test spot and see how that works.

lacquer thinner is just as bad as acetone . if the overspray is from a rattle can try wax and grease remover (eg ppg dx 330) put some on a rag and rub it on the overspray. if the over spray is from a catylized paint (eg if it was sprayed with a paint gun and used a hardener) nothing will take it off without destroying it.

When I used to work for Dana we put grease on the ID tags before the axles and transmissions were painted. We would then wipe away the paint and grease. Once wiped the ID tags would be perfect.

I use denatured alcohol to remove paint from prefinished woodwork. Ive never used it on a ID plate but maybe try it in a small spot and see how it works.

I used lacquer thinner, it was the only thing that would touch it. If you're careful and work quick it works fine, just be sure you remove it all before you walk away.

Soft scrub may work as well.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
