That's a pretty clean 1000. There was a couple of threads on here on welding up the shifter guides. Didn't look too bad if you are handy with a welder

Glad you got a project for you and your son and the 1000 QL is a very fine tractor.....I have one myself (Just wish mine could defy gravity like yours does  ). You can find the year and month of the production of your machine by looking up the serial number found on the tag on your frame or rearend with these numbers:http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=7114 This and a whole lot more information (manuals, guides, etc.) can be found in the technical section of this forum. Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester.
