Default 50c deck help

I've got the old 1650 I bought running pretty good. Today while mowing the deck went kaput on me. The middle pulley that drives off the belt is no longer attached to the shaft its on. It just spins and wobbles around. So is this repairable or do I need to buy a new part? Thanks.

Yep, you can still get those new or if your a good welder, you can fix it. I am not a welder so I would buy a new one.

without better descriptions or a pic, it could be as simple as a woodruff key sheered. that is what keys the shaft and pulley together

Ok, this helps. I will check it tomorrow. I don't have a socket big enough for the nut on top so I will have to get one.

Ok so after looking at parts online under 50c deck, they say the nut on top of the pulley is 3/4-16. The nut on mine is over 1". So are the other pulley nuts and also the nuts on bottom of blade. Does this sound right?

3/4-16 is the thread size. Most of those nuts take a 1-1/8" socket. I use a 1/2" impact wrench to get them off.

If you were closer you could bring it by and I could zip it off for you. You will need a way of blocking the shaft from turning. If the blade is still on the bottom just put a wooden block between the block and deck shell then take the nut off. you will probally need a long handle on the socket to turn that nut off.

Thanks for the offer. I'll pick up the pulley and socket next week and hope I'll be back in business soon.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
