So I got my Cub(first tractor period actually) yesterday and took some pics of it today. Since I'm extremely green to owning and maintaining small engine equipment, think of me as someone you guys can mold into a proper tinkerer.
I was going to put these in the thread to show your Cubs, but figured it better to make my own since I'd like to know what you guys would do if you had just purchased this Cub. Understand though that my tools are limited, but I have no ball and chain to shoot down any 'required' equipment ![]() So here's the pics!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Great looking 1811 and attachments, Danger! First things I would do, would be changing the engine oil and tranny fluid. You never know, when they were last changed.

VERY NICE! Looks like you done did good
![]() As ACecil said, a complete fluid change is a must. Make sure to use Hy-Trans/Hy-trans ultra in the tranny. You just never know if the previous owner kept up on it or even used the right fluids.

![]() ![]() Great looking 1811, and it looks to be in excellent shape too. The issues with your deck are pretty common for these. I agree with everyone else's advice....change the oil, the hy-tran and filter, lube up all the zerks on the deck as well as the steering column and spindles, some new plugs and air filter would be a good idea too if they haven't been changed in a while. Wax her up and be proud!!:biggrin2.gif: Jeff (teet)

I'm not 100% sure from your picture, but it looks like that lower sleeve hitch bracket is attached to your aluminum rear end without any re-enforcement/fabrication of somekind. That rear end wasn't designed to handle that kind of stress without modifications. I wouldn't plow with it until you fab up something to re-enforce it or put a Cat 0 3pt hitch on it.

Yep that's pretty nice.
Currently I'm looking for a larger trailer and I'm spending around an hour plus a night scouring CL for a good deal...want to know trailer prices???? I'll tell you... Yeah I'm alway curious about deals and I like to know prices and I don't understand why guys don't say what they paid. I paid $1100 for my 1811 but then I sold the PS unit off of it for $350 and the 44" deck that I didn't need off of it for $150...so I have $600 in mine. You have a pretty decent package there and yeah I'm curious. Youd think we're a bunch of women at a shoe sale the way guys protect their purchase prices.....???? Scott |

I paid $975 for the whole package plus $25 to have it delivered(no trailer at the moment). So I think I did OK. It seems to run and sound just fine as well.
The previous owner had it from 190 hours till now at 1300 hours. You can tell he took good care of it. He said he greased all the fittings and changed the engine oil. He didn't mention the transmission though. I'll get some more pics of the rear end after work and you guys can let me know if you think it'll be strong enough for plowing. And other tasks if I can find the attachments. The brochure seems to say that there is a non self powered tiller that will work with it. Is that the case? Or is my only tiller option a self powered pull behind? Shawn |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
