The Brown truck showed up today. A while back when I picked up my 2nd 2182 it had most of the rear PTO. When I got working on it I noticed that the rear cover was made out of 1/4" steel plate instead of the crappy stamped sheet metal like the other aluminum rears had. Well when it comes to scraping the gasket off it is a breeze so I had my welder buddy make me a couple out of 1/4" plate. Fast forward and the welder has sold his shop. Looking through the Xtreme website I noticed that they had a cover but it has a drain plug and a fill plug both of them are in the way if you have the rear factory 3 point so I called Aaron and asked him about making the cover in 1/4" but without the drain and fill plugs. The pics are of what he sent me. So if you have had all the fun you can stand trying to scrape the gasket out of the recess in the stamped cover or your cover is bent or rotted out this is the answer.

Looks great, thanks for sharing Sam!
![]() I never thought about that, replacing the crummy rear covers with something better. And what do you know, they are up on Xteme's site! For $36, you can't go wrong.

One nice thing about these is that they are the same thickness as the Cub factory cover for the 3 point with the rear PTO so the OEM or Ruegg 3 point's fit as they should. I'm done with the stamped covers. I have 2 tractors that will be getting these covers next time I remove them. Happy, happy, happy.

I'll paint them in and out. I hope it will be a while before I need to use them so I don't want them to rust.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
