Default I'll just build a lawn roller instead of buying one

Since I have a enough tools to build a roller, I priced out material to build one. Great googily moogily

12" diameter , 3/16" wall pipe 48" long $155
12" diameter 1/4" thick round plates for end caps $36 for the pair.
1" diameter x 54" long CRS bar for the center axle $25
pair of 1" bearing pillow blocks $23 shipped off ebay
I have 1" sq tubing plus flat bar for the frame.

Looks like close to $250 in materials for a quality lawn roller

I decided to check out craigslist. Found a roller for $100 so I clicked on it. This one was a just a little too big. 36" diameter and weighs 2500 lbs

Next was down was a town 10 minutes away. It's homemade out of 1/2" wall pipe probably 12" in diameter and filled with concrete. $50 or B/O

I just got back with it, got it for $40

It's a thing of beauty 1/2" wall steel pipe with a 1-1/4" solid steel round bar and filled with concrete

$40 well spent

According to a steel supplier, the pipe weighs 65 lb a foot and it's close to 30" wide. 1-1/4" steel bar is just over 4 lbs a foot

So that's around 150lb on the pipe, 12 lb on the bar and probably in excess of 100 lb for the concrete. It took me and the seller to pull it up on the trailer while tilted. It was too much for both of us to lift 4"

Here's your total.
In a cylinder 12" round and 30" long, the concrete would weigh 300 lb.( concrete weighs 150 lb./cu. ft.) + the steel pipe 153 lb. + steel bar 12 lb. = 465 lb.

Now that's a pretty sweet lawn roller
That should do the job, and do it well

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
