Default 122's engine blew

Hey guys,
I was reving up my 122 last night by the governor, I know big mistake and it started smoking out the valve cover and was running rough, then I heard a bang and it shut off and has no compression, I pulled the engine out and started stripping it down, gonna have a look inside to see what went wrong. I have a good running 10hp to repower it.

Nick

Sorry about your engine. The old engine maybe able to be repaired. Did it knock a hole in the block? Not sure you caused it to blow unless you buzzed it up big time.

No hole, no crack = good block. Scrape = use-able.

I've seen worse than that. You may want to rebuild it. It would be a good learning experience for you, you'd probably have fun doing it and if done right will last for many years.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
