Default Newbie in NY

hi to all. another addict born! short of it is this, I went to look at a tiller that I thought I was going to try to rig to go onto my 2414 pk/ economy and when I get there its a #1 tiller and gearbox on a 102 with creeper, spring assist, lights, and a almost new seat to boot ! Was kinda nervous to ask what he wanted for it and you can imagine the smoke- flames on the wallet when he said $20.00 for it all !!!! Soooo now I ve been on this site almost non stop soaking up all the info i ve found an have to say this site is the greatest ! So after a new plug, battery and a carb cleaning n fluids I now have a great running / looking lil tractor that the wife has claimed now for the thing everyone loves ....the pics.

The po said that he got this 20- odd yrs ago to mow with but never used the tiller it just sat on the side yard so shes a lil rusty on the surface but should clean up nice. the tractor is over all in good shape, no rust anywhere other than the underside of the hood. So what do you all think ... good deal ??

Misfit congrats on the once in a lifetime deal. Not to be the guy who rains on your parade but you should really offer that man some more $ considering how much tractor and implement you got. He may or may not take it but it might be the right thing to do. I may be wrong here but sounds like he may not know why he had to me.

None the less an awesome package you got there.

yes, just below w.p. back on part of my dads old farm. been though homer once or twice when we were looking at land a few years back, nice area. I just want to clarify for alvy this was part of his "scrap pile ' that he said he would rather someone could use than take in. he was happy that it was going to be used as he's trying to clean up around the place. I've been back over since helping him clean up and move things around to make things look better there it helps to make it feel a little more of a fair trade. Super nice guy who has been running cubs for about 40 years, but isn't into restoring , just working them. I'll have to see what his current model is, just know its a newer one. hope everyone has a great 4th weekend!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
