Default New Guy; Opening Question

I bought a Cub Cadet 5234D a couple months ago. I'm just now starting to go over everything on it.

I stumbled onto this forum while looking for some info. After joining, I started looking around here some more and noticed that no one mentions any 5000 or 7000 series tractors.

Am I not at the right place with the tractor I have?

Welcome to the forum!

Well.... not many here own those machines and technically they had the CC name, but were not built by MTD. They were another brand re-badged and sold under the CC name. However, there are several people here who are familiar with more than just the garden tractors. (Myself included) What is it that you are wanting to know? If we don't know offhand, we will try and find you an answer, or direct you to the right place.

Welcome to OCC. This site pretty much sticks to the garden tractor size Cubs. You may find more info at MTF

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
