30 some years ago Garden Way (the people that made the lifetime warranty Troybilts) had a gardening show on tv every week with master gardener Dick Raymond sharing tons of gardening info. I learned a lot from the show and the book he wrote.
One of his ideas that works well for me is wide rows. The only "weeding" I did in these pics was running the tiller between the 2 wide rows. |

Yup, we do wide rows but not due to that show I don't think. I am inherently lazy and figured that burning of fossil fuels in a tiller was a much better use of my time and resources than to cultivate calluses on my hands.

My dad used that same method for years...veggies grew very nicely. He did not have a Troybilt tiller but a front tine unit. My sisters and I did the weeding and cultivating. Your beans look great! Did they produce well? Anymore pics of the garden?

, my garden isn't very pretty this year. I am only home 2 days a week and have a quarter acre garden. I couldn't get in with the tiller for over a month. The beans did ok this year, but I think wet "feet" affected them.I couldn't garden without my Troybilt. Here's a pic from last year that shows how easy weeding is. One pass and all those weeds are gone. |

If you liked the show you should check out the book. I've never seen the show but I've had the book for years and it's still my favorite gardening book. Lots of good tips and ideas.

It's in my first post, but I didn't make a big point about it. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
