Default Deck Hanger for a model 71

Is this the correct hanger for a model 71 38" deck? If not, will a model 123 deck hanger work on a model 71 38" deck?

The one you have is for a wide frame so no it won't work, the one off the 123 will be correct.

So this is my 38" deck and I assume the eyelet bolt hangers in front aren't original parts?

That's a pin on style deck so yes those are correct, is the undercarriage off the 123 for a pin on deck or is it quick release?

I will look, but I think the two keeper things towards the back of the 123 deck hanger have springs like a quick release?

Ok here is my 42" deck. Also how much for a new idler pulley and spring?
Thanks

The 42" is a little much for the 71,stick with the 38"

Your mule drive should look like this one for it.

I agree on the 38 inch deck for the 71. Looks like I'm gonna have to get some of those deck hanger things like on my 42 inch deck, towards the front for my 38 inch deck.

If you have a mule drive and lift frame for/from a 1X2/3 it should work with the cast end deck (in your picture) on your 71 just fine without modification to the deck or to the mule drive/lift frame. The eye bolts on the 38" deck in your picture are factory equipment.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
