Default Cub LoBoy

Somewhat new to Cubs but, like my 1641! So do the grandsons.
Hydro is much easier for them.

Couldn't resist another Cub, found this weekend a 1967 Cub LoBoy 154. Can't wait, the machine'll be delivered this week.

Ran the LoBoy, runs fine. The grandsons need shop time anyways, work!

Found a pieced manual online, need it. Any reading material online for downloads? The links are appreciated.

I really like the look of them they just seem so under-powered with only 14hp engines.

It's all about power and weight. I do agree that I may have put a bit more than 14hp in it had I been designing it but then again, what does it really need it for? It handles the 60" deck they have for them just fine and unless you do a lot of heavy ground engaging (or maybe snow blowing but when have you ever seen one of those on that machine) they're just fine. I grew up with F Cubs and Lo-Boy's and they are quite capable machines. Spent more than a few hours mowing and pulling stuff around the farm with them, good machines if you can get em for a good price.

It's also about the torque figures, not just hp

Most of the time cadets run out of traction before HP. Low boy wouldn't. I've been looking for one for awhile now
Congrats Tank!

I still run out of traction before power with my loboy 154. It does have a good bit of torque, even at lower Rpms. I wish they made one with a hydro, and that a 3pt was standard equipment on them. And correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the standard Cubs beforehand were only 8hp. I think they upped the compression in the 60's at some point.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
