Picked up a 782 today from a co-worker for "The Right Price" as I call it. He said he wanted it out of his driveway and knew I liked IHs . Got it home Saturday and took this picture.
The rats nest started on top of the air cleaner and went all the way into the flywheel housing where the cr*p was stuffed tight so the motor wouldn't turn, got it blown out and freed up no problem then proceeded to find it had no spark, ended up being more cr*p inside the points cover grounding them out. Blew out the carb and she is a runner. Last step is to get the hydro lever and lift lever freed up and tube the back tires.

I also degreased the hood and it turned out better than I thought

you might be surprised if you take a buffer and some buffing compound to that paint it will make it look a lot better , unless your planning to sell it or redo it that is

I was thinking the same. That body looks pretty solid and I bet it'll shine up a bit. My new to me 782 looks exactly the same and I plan on trying to get some of the dull out of the paint once I get it put back together.

Congratulations on your "new to you" 782. Looks to be in good shape and a runner to boot! Way to go!

Looks like you got a decent tractor, I would wax it by hand since its a single stage and the buffer might take the paint off.

That grease actually act as a rust protection, just clean all surfaces and hand wax with some Carnauba base wax and look the show and shine! ![]() Those I like to use: 1-Mothers Brasilian Carnauba cleaner wax 2-NX Meguiar's liquid wax (I try the Ultimate and the result aren't better) Top of my list to try: Bilt Hamber double speed-wax (fracking expensive)

Nice find.
You'll want to have a peak under that belt cover on the mowing deck. I opened mine up just short of too late, and the stiffener plate that holds the 3 pulleys was just about shot with rust. |

Cool find. Don't show it to your coworker after you clean it up and get it running,he will think you owe him

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
