I'm confused why didn't everybody jump on this? It went for $1000.00 one bid. Is there something wrong with an 1882 that I am not aware of ? I stay mostly to the 72 series supers.

Too much $$$$ as far as I'm concerned.

I'd rather have an 1872, you get the front hydraulic hookups and metal instead of plastic.

Sam am I missing something? I don't know cyclops very well but I see 1872's go for $1800-$2000 all the time and 2182's for as much as $2900. The plastic all seems to be good, no rust by foot treads. I would think an 1882 is worth as much as an 1872, being newer. $1000 for any super in what appears to be good condition seems to be a good deal. Educate me. Now that I have all 4 72 supers I was thinking of starting on the 82 supers. I know you had a few.

I need to bring my 2072 to your neck of the woods . I think unless re-powered no super is worth anywhere near $2,000. People may ask for it, and you may see such prices listed, but you don't know what it ultimately sold for. You may also get lucky once in a while and find the right buyer that needs to fill a gap in their collection or something. But realistically, once you buy it, then it starts, hydro fluid, rear gasket, brake re-lining, rag joints, hydro fan, tires, battery, relief valves, deck spindles/bearings, steering joints, head gaskets, air filter, paint, and so on and so on. If you start at $1,000 you'll be at $2,000 in no time and it will only be worth about $1,500. Plus the hours you put into it. And then you still got an old engine in it.

The sales I speak of are selling prices not asking prices. If you have a decent 2072 good paint and runs well Ill give you $1000 all day long.

If your looking for a Cyclops look for a new machine with the better rockshaft like on a 2284. Just my 2 cents but 2084, 2284, 2086, 1782, 2182 are better machines (look for later serial number 1782's and 2182's)

I did a CH22 re-power on a 1882 basically ended up with a 2282 and it took me forever to sell it. Pic is the 1882/2282

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
