Need some advice on a diesel
Hey guys, I'm in the position to aquire a 2 cylinder diesel engine for cheap. Engine FD295 two cylinder diesel china made on a nalahay 254 ( TS254) tractor 4x4. I know nothing about these machines or engines. The guy wants to do some trading on my 18 onan. So here's where the questions come, they had to rebuild the engine sleeved the cylinders and new pistons. Since the rebuild the engine will only run with the intake closed off as soon as you remove the cover the engine dies. The interesting thing is diesel fuel is all over the cover you use. Any ideas on what would be the issue? I'd like to know what to expect price wise. I know an injector pump for this engine is $300 so that's cheaper than building the onan.. If I make the trade I'm planning to put it in my 782 that has k321aqs in it..

I dont know a whole bunch about diesels but sounds like injector timing or candhaft timing maybe bad valves? Someone with more knowledge will chime in. Im interested as well

I was kinda thinking the same about the timing. The guy claims they have it in time. I don't know if boring and sleeving the block didn't necessarily change the timing specs..

I honestly have no clue but i dont really see how it would other then the engine being dissassembled. Maybe you can try and pm jmech he could probably point you in the right direction
