New member some northern PA
Hello everyone. My name is Stu, and I look forward to being a member of this forum. I am a retired truck driver, and a single parent for the last 13yrs. to a tractor loving young man. I found our old 77 1650 with a few attachments in very good running condition as the engine had been recently freshened up. The previous owner had to many other things going on and decided to sell it. We got it very reasonable, and I figured it would be a fun project for my son and I. I have gone through it, and it is almost done now,,,except for a new paint job,,,but it still looks good. We have installed all new steering parts, and wheel bearings. I only have the trunion left to freshen up and it is ready to paint. i also rebuilt the driveshaft, and carburetor needed some attention also. It starts right up and runs very strong. We pushed so much dirt with it over the summer as we installed new water lines for the local retirement park. i was so surprised at how much dirt and rock this thing could handle. I never thought it would fill in 4ft. deep trenches as easily as it did. The tires are filled, and has original wheelweights and chains. It really likes to push,,lol! I also have a JD318, but the engine is due for a rebuild or a repower as it is burning allot of oil. Well it has almost 2000hrs. so I can't complain. We also have an 80's era Ford 3910 with front loader and backhoe that I do all the big jobs with. It is great to have a small real tractor that is tough as the Cub is to fit into those small spots where the Ford cannot get, and not tear up the lawns! I hope to pick up some more tips as we continue to bring it back to near new condition, and hopefully help someone else doing a similar build. We are also big fisherman and have a nice fiberglass bass boat and do bass tournaments with our local club and avid hunters also. Nice to meet you all.

Here is a couple of pics of it out doing its thing. I do have the sidecovers also. No wheelweights on yet in these pics as I had just got the set recently off ebay...Man they don't give those things away! I'm also awaiting a brand new hood hinge to install to get rid of some idle vibration through the hood. My old 318 photo bombed,,lol!
 One more, along with my cheapo JD D140,,I don't count that one,,lol. I picked that up dirt cheap just to mow my lawn when the 318 started burning oil.

I've still got many more things planned for the old 1650. AG tires, sleeve hitch, two way control hydro switch and more attachments as i find them. It's been a fun little project that hasn't broke the bank account either....Can't wait to rebuild the Onan, or repower the JD,,that is gonna cost me...i may just sell it as is and use the money to help with finishing up the Cub instead..I do like that old 318 allot though so I will more than likely keep it.

That belt drive to the pinned tiny rear axle is a joke, and although they state big hp numbers on the engines,,,ummm, no its not in the same ballpark...Torque is king on the old K341! I am a Ford and IH guy at heart. I never would of got that D140 if he wasn't giving it away. He thought the hydrostatic was shot, it was only the drive belt! Gave him $250 for it,,i will mow with it till it dies and take it to the dump.
