Default Too early

Had to stop by the grocery/drugstore on the way home form work today. The Salvation Army was already camped out by the door ringing a bell. It's over 6 weeks before Christmas, that's just too soon for my liking. I have nothing against them or anyone else raising money and volunteering time to help folks in need--that's a GREAT thing to do. My take on it is we have the "holiday" season pushed on us earlier each year. It just ruins the Christmas spirit in my opinion. What I really hate is that kids don't seem to get near as excited about Christmas festivities as I remember 35 years ago, mine doesn't even notice a great light display unless you point it out. Makes me want to dig out a photo of me on Christmas morning playing with all my IH toys---I didn't realize then how lucky I was then to have a dad that worked at a IH dealership. Somehow I never got a toy Cadet, did they make them back in the 70's?

Excellent point you have there. I remember it used to be a tradition to pile into the car and spend an evening or two driving around looking at Christmas lights; now less and less people are even decorating. I just hate how "the holiday season" starts in October and as SOON as Halloween is over, it's Christmas. We've got radio stations playing Christmas music, stores have Christmas decorations and merch on the shelves, and houses are starting to decorate. I even know one person who's wife made him put up the Christmas tree THE DAY AFTER HALLOWEEN! I REFUSE in my house to put up a tree a day before December. If you do it at the end of October that's nearly 1/4 of the year with a tree up! Yeesh, seems like there's plenty to rant about on this topic

They may as well keep it out all year. Wally World and Lowes have had Christmas stuff out for weeks now.

We follow the Christian faith at my house and recognize when Advent starts is when our tree/lights go up. No sooner than Thanksgiving. We also recognize that as a holiday.

As a retailer, it only makes sense to put it up now. If they waited until after Thanksgiving, it would be even more nuts, and people would still be complaining about it being out too early.

When the time is spread out longer, the novelty wears off, the excitement is not generated and the spirit is not genuine. Let's hope that these holidays are never met with lack of observing their true meaning.......but I'm afraid that is becoming all too common for many in our younger generation.

I agree 100%! I even see some lazy people around me that leave their lights uo all year! And when they fire them up theres bulbs out and half of them are busted and they dont bother fixing them!
I walk into the store with my 5 kids wearing my stained up holy work clothes, muttering bah humbug and the old bell ringer looks like he wants to take his bucket of change and run the other direction! 3 days after Christmas is over my younger kids start making their list for santa for the following year! I told my boys all they were getting for Christmas was a godevil (splitting mal) to help me with the firewood and they seem genuinly excited! But momma put the kabosh on that idea when her baby boy(10) was screwing around and split his eyelid open and had to get stitches!
I used to love Christmas when i was a kid, it meant I had 2 weeks off school so I could help the old man out in the shop everyday and do some rabbit hunting! Now it just means by the time I recoup from school shopping its time to do santas job!(fat old slacker anyhow)

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
