Default Passing of a huge Cub collector

Hello:

I found this web site while googling Cub Cadet collectors.
I'm reaching out in hopes that maybe someone may know of someone who could help me liquidate a large collection of Cub Cadet tractors and parts.
My father was a HUGE collector / restorer and has recently passed away very unexpectedly. He always said to my mother that they were sitting on their retirement...he just never got a chance to finish his plans.

There are well over 100 tractors ranging from old originals to some newer stuff and everything in between. (He did prefer the older stuff and most of the tractors are older. He said the newer "thousands series" were junk and "not built like they used to")
There's also two buildings full of parts that he was sorting out to sell and never got the chance.
I'm just hoping maybe someone out there with the same love and passion for this hobby would have an interest in some of his collection or at least know what to do with it.
Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.
My email is nweakland@mail.com

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your consideration.

Sorry for your loss.
We have quite a few members from PA here.
Perhaps your father was a member as well.
Good luck with your task.

My deepest sympathy on the passing of your dad. We have a section in the forum titled "What's It Worth" (at the bottom of the Resources section of the forum) where you can take pictures of your dad's equipment so that you get a fair price for each of his items.

I might add that you may get some family members in before you sell anything to see if there is any sentimental attachments to anything he has there. Just saying this because many of us have fond memories of riding on our dad's cub cadet that are no longer within our reach and we wish we could locate them for that same reason.

That would be a good route to go, but I believe that would be EXTREMELY time consuming!!

I doubt you really want to deal with that at this time. There have been a few auctions around here with several cubs that sold very well. You could have an auction, but make sure to advertise it, to get the right crowd.

You could do something like a BIGIRON auction and post links on all the garden tractor sites. This would open it up to more buyers across the country.

OR try to get some honest guys from here that could go out and give a FAIR price on everything, then post it all for sale on C-list and certain Cub Cadet forums.

Just a thought, sympathy to you and your family with your dad.

Pennsylvania has a number of members on here of which I am one.

You certainly have found a good place to help what you want to get done.

Thanks for the advice...and the kind words.

I will try to get some pictures to share to give an idea of what's here, but that sure is a daunting task.
The tractors and attachments are spread across about 2 acres and there are two buildings full of parts. So it will be a few days.
It also doesn't help that I don't know what's common and what's rare, so, for all I know, I may be tripping over the good stuff to take a picture of the junk.

Oh yeah...the collection sits in Cambria County PA to give an idea of location.
Please email me if there is anything specific that you'd suggest I take pictures.

Thank again everyone.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
