Default Identify Narrow Frame Mower Deck

OK, I give, I've been trying to locate parts sources and instructions for the deck mounted on one of the 147s. The tag over the discharge reads 482 U1111. Measures just shy of 48-inches outer tip to tip and just shy of 50-inches edge to edge.

Needs an anti-scalp front roller, new gauge wheels and bolts and I'd like to have a spare set of blades. The spindles feel good and the belt is like new.

(The manuals section gives me a permission denied.)

Here's some snaps:

That's a 48" cast center deck. Possibly built between 1968 and 1971.

You may be able to download this PDF, it has a lot of information in it.

It has also been difficult for me to find information on mower decks based on the ID tags. The first two numbers on the tags are the deck size.

You must have done something REALLY bad if the manuals section gives you a permission denied!

I believe there were 3 versions of that deck. The first version had cast spindle housings with tapered roller bearings. The later versions used the stamped housings with water pump style bearings. There were also differences in the skids (round rod vs half round) and the rear quick attach brackets that hold the spring loaded pins.

Another vote for 48". No discharge guard on yours though.

Yes, a 48" deck/cut there you have there. It looks like it is probably the 2nd version of that deck. (4-bolt outer pulley covers - from what I can see of the holes, center deck belt/blade drive pulley is the same size as the top/driven pulley, and has quick-connect rear hangers.)

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
