Default My Auction Adventure

Well I went to my very first auction today. Found a cub cadet 122. Started looking at it closer and It was a complete tractor with attach mower deck. This thing look like it was ready to mow just add gas. Got it home and went over it and found that It has mower deck, creeper grear, spring assist, three point hitch, Paper copy of Operator's manual,All mower belts, front pto. Hood in very good shape, has 2 great condition reflectors, Even has the hole for the cig. lighter on console. All rims good ,Tires have some dry rot. steering linkage tight steering column very loose, steering wheel rotten. All electical wiring very good condition. Missing Battery and battery positive cable to battery, missing spark plug, and key, THAT'S It. The best part of this deal was the price before 10% buyers fee and 8% tax was get this $140.00 SWEET. I now have 3 CC 122 tractors all together it gives me all the options and parts i need to make 1 great tractor!!! I will still be able to put the other 2 back together and sell them off. Attach is a picture I will get more when i get a break in the weather.

Jeff the best part of this is that it was only 15 min away. The trouble is that I believe all three tractors should be restored. I love the 122 I got from you Its in great shape but this one is all together. When the rain stops Iam going to put a battery and spark plug and gas to try to get it started will keep you posted. Allso I got that gas tank sealer you talked about from boswell for the CC100. Will let you know how it works.Rich

Good for you! It's nice to find a good deal close to home. I should be firing up the 682 sometime this coming week as well. I have the engine mounted, just need to make a new driveshaft and button up some odds and ends. You should be able to make a couple great 122's out of your collection. Let me know how that sealer works for you, it has saved my butt a few times.:biggrin2.gif:

Ditto what Matt said, did you change the oil too? You never know what thick sludge was in there from the previous owner. How is the spark? Good luck with it, and let us know how you made out....

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
