Default Picked up a 4 digit Original

I have always wanted an Original, and a month ago or so I received a pic of a cub Original that was belonged to a friends father, and after he passed they wanted the "junk out of the garage". Knowing that I was a cub guy he asked if I wanted it. Of course, I said not knowing anything about it. So Yesterday I finally did the 100 mile trip to see what I had won and needless to say I am quite happy. It is a 61 Original Serial 6830 with factory fenders, Danco BB36 thrower and a Danco underdrive. It has chains original tires, 4 decent hubcaps, the original seat cover and I think it will run without too much trouble. Besides a few custom touches by the previous owner it is in great shape. the only thing I can see that is missing is the hood ornament and possibly the lower portion of the oil bath air cleaner ( but it might be under the tin can that is screwed to it). I think I will restore it, add a 3pt rear lift and install the 1 hole Brinly 10" plow I have for it.

NICE! Don't know if I would restore it or just clean it up. I'm certain you'll treat it well regardless.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
