Default 1250 hydro lever question

Just got a 1250 that I believe has sat outside for awhile. Haven't got it running yet. My question is the lever on the dash that makes it go forward and backwards won't move either way. Does tractor have to be running in order to move the lever or should that not matter. I sprayed all linkage inside the tower area with Kroil 3 days ago. If lever doesn't move, where do I go to next to check out?
Thanks

In short...NO

Check ALL the linkages from the handle all the way back to the Trunion Cam. Something is froze up.

Not sure where the trunion cam is, but I bet I can find it. I will trace all linkage down and hit it with some Kroil spray.
Thanks!

Default Brake pedal

Make sure your brake pedal is not locked down. That will prevent the lever from moving. when you depress the brake pedal the lever will return to neutral.

Good luck.

No reason for feeling like an idiot. You had a problem and asked. You got steered in the correct directions and now you KNOW it's an easy fix.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
