Default 381U111 deck questions

I have a 105 with a 381U111 deck.

The center spindle bearings are toast. In looking at page 21 of the CPE-2B Mower Decks pdf: http://www.onlycubcadets.net/pdf/CPE...er%20Decks.pdf

I think this is my deck, but part number 40 says "only for U115 decks". I think I am looking for an ST745

My question is, can I still get bearings for this deck, and do I have to replace the whole spindle?

Since there were many generations of the 38" mower deck, it would be best if you post a picture of your deck, so we are all on the same page.

Here is the deck. If I need better pictures, I can dig it out of the shed:

If your spindles are the non rebuildable kind, I have two from a 38 inch deck that I can part out.

It appears the deck generation you have is found on Page 21 of the CPE2 Parts Manual. That deck could have had two types of bearings. The #40 you see, as well as the #27 rebuild-able type. You will have to tear into it to find out exactly. As an educated guess, yours is the rebuild-able type.

I have these three. Good working condition. Send a PM if they're what you need.

Thanks. I'll have to tear into it next weekend, and see which type that I have.

It looks like the pulley is all wallowed out, as well as the shaft. I took the spindle out. Do these look like the kind that come apart, or the one piece/non-rebuildable unit

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
