3 point log splitter
So I just got a mahindra e22max. I got the optional set of rear remotes. Mainly so I can tilt the box blade side to side. My buddy gave me a manual log splitter which I'm going to convert to a 3 point configuration. Another use for those handy rear remotes. My question is this, I've looked at many 3 point splitters you can buy that run off the rear remotes and they have their own valve that operates the cylinder. I was thinking I would have to use the valve that's on the tractor to control the cylinder action. I don't understand how you can use a valve on the splitter if the valve on the tractor for those rear remotes is fixed in one position. Won't it not allow the fluid movement unless it's being used? Or can you put the valve on the tractor in a "float" position, I'm sure that's the wrong term, so the valve on the splitter can control the cylinder? Please shed some light on this for me.

i would assume you would use a tarp strap to hold tractors lever in one position and the fluid will flow to other valve? IMHO it dont seem cost worthy to run a tractor engine to split wood when a 99 dollar harbor freight engine will do it and more than likely burn less fuel and not rack up hours on an expensive compact tractor... but i do get that there is seat time with the tractor.... my splitter is its own trailer setup and have had to use the tractors loader to lift blocks to the splitter. if your tractor has a loader you might want to keep that in mind

A lot of tractors have other ports in the hydraulic unit that allow you to run a spool valve from them. I have always heard it called "power beyond" when talking about an Oliver tractor. All Oliver tractors have that option, but I don't know about new or foreign tractors. It may be worth looking into though.
