So, 1994 - 1999 2000 Series. Were these the "transition" years? The end of the true Cub Cadet built tractors? Looks like a clean machine.

Those hours look awfully low! I would check tire and front end wear and look for dirt in places you just can't clean really well to see if it matches up to the hours. For $700, that looks like a good machine for working. You buying or just window shopping?

That is a 2160AGS stay as far away from it as you can. They transmission is a 6 speed with a forward and reverse wet clutch. It is not a hydro but many people think they are and they slip the clutch's and burn them up. The AGS tractors have a lever to select the gear on the right fender the.

If the hour meter is correct it may be worth it. Best way to test the clutch to see if it's cooked is to put it in 6th gear and see if the clutch slips going up a hill. If it slips walk away.

I like them for organ donors. Take the engine and put it in a real tractor sell as many of the other parts as you can then haul the rest to the scrap yard.

According to tractordata.com the 2160 is an auto gear but the 2165 is hydrostatic.

That is debatable. But the last of the true IH designed cubs ended in 1989. Starting in 1990 (w/ S/N: 800,000>), was the CCC/MTD designed tractors.
