Stupid mice.

I got a text from my wife yesterday saying that the fridge wasn't working and that everything in the freezer was thawed, I rush home after work fearing I may have to spend money I don't really have on a new fridge. Turns out that a mouse chewed the cord off it, luckily it only chewed through one lead and didn't cause a fire. Once I pulled the back off the fridge I found a few more wires that were damaged as well. After a trip to lowes to buy a new cord I spent the next few hours soldering and shrink wrapping wires and we're back in business, it was a crappy job but I was glad to get out of buying a new fridge. We haven't had any mouse activity for some time but I set out a glue trap last night and when I woke up this morning the peanut butter was gone, either the mouse is smart or my cat ate it.

The cat is still young and learning, she's not fixed yet so we don't let her out so her hunting skill are lacking. My last cat killed everything in site including one of my landlords turkeys.

Check your homeowners insurance. We had the freezer door in the garage to get left open very slightly. When we found it everything was thawed. I hauled all the food to dump ASAP. Called and filed a claim as we had coverage with a $100 deductible. Guy said make a list of what and how much. I was honest, no need for ill-gotten gain, and they cut me a check.

I got an old stray tom cat that took up residence on one of my old tractor seats in the barn.
Was not happy about that till one night I heard a helluva carrying on and looked out towards the chicken coop and seen him putting a whoppin' on a young fox.
The fox tried his best but ol' tommy's claws must of done some damage as the fox ran off before I could get my .22
Never saw a cat and fox tangle before.
As far as house mice, peanut butter on a snap trap works well and the chickens love carrying the carcass playing keep away from each other.
It's that time of the year they come inside, looking for warmth & food.
Keep that cat hungry as John says.

Years ago I had a beautiful black Persian cat. She was pampered, well groomed and well fed. However, one night she found some mice in the basement and went after them with a vengeance. Within five minutes the mice were dead. She was a great hunter...very smart too. I have had others that were dumb as rocks and rodents, birds were invisible to them.

I had a mouse get into the house early this year. Set traps, and would find the peanut butter licked off, traps still set. Set the traps again, but used small pieces of chewy granola bar. Dead mouse the next morning.
