Can't get over trading for a game system. If it were near I'd grab a handful of cash and tell him to go buy a new system--we'd both be happy.
Don't know about the others. First one looks really nicely painted. Maybe he went through it mechanically as well. He may very well have that much tied up in it, unfortunately thats the reality we all face---put more into it than its worth--can be anything from video game systems to pickups to fishing/hunting gear etc. Bottom line, don't put more into it than you can AFFORD to lose. Second one, probably same situation. What gets me are folks asking a fortune for a junk pile. I see it quite often, more often on stuff other than Cadets. Most of the Cadets I see are reasonably priced, if you are going to buy it and run it. Forget about flipping them.

Oh, I found lots of them for good prices. Nothing I was interested in.... but lots of Cub's for sale within driving distance.
The guy wanting to trade for a game system has it listed in 3 different places. Only one of the ads has it listed for trade. The other two had a cash price on it. Like $450 IIRC. I found them after I made the post. Either way... pretty good price. I just thought it was dumb he would rather have a game system. Priorities I guess... ![]() |

Lets give him benefit of the doubt that he already has a nice mower or lives somewhere that lawncare is provided (apartment/townhome). I actually go to church with a guy that is a computer geek by trade that has a collection of gaming systems dating to the mid 80's--all operational. Hey, it takes all kinds. He does have a house and knowing him, he's probably got a fairly new mower.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
