Default John Deere or Cub PTO

I recently sold my old 1811 and going through some of my old parts boxes I have found a used PTO. The JD 318 PTO and the CC 1811 PTO look almost identical. I have looked for a model or serial number on the PTO but cannot find one. Can anyone tell me how to tell the difference or to identify the one I have? It is a one wire model.
Thanks

Shaft size. Measure the hole in it.

Look up the Part Number for the JD318, then go to the Warner Electric site and see what it cross references to. Do the same of the Cub Cadet. See if they match.

If the JD had an Onan in it the muffler bracket mounts on the top of the motor, so there will be no marks on the pto flange.A 1811 one will leave a clean or shadow area on it from the Mag 18 muffler mounted over it.

I think the JD has a larger pulley.

I measured the PTO shaft hole in the unit and it was one inch. The JD PTO is 1 7/16 so it is a Cub unit. If anyone needs a real nice piece drop me a PM.

You may be right about the cold! I was looking for 1 7/16 to confirm it was JD PTO but it may have been a hair over 1 inch. I should have used inside calipers but wasn't really concerned about the exact measurement. Anyway it is not a JD PTO.

I could be interested "IF" it's from a Magnum 18 (1"1/8) , This PTO from Georgia could be a good match for my 1872 from Pennsylvania with a almost new Magnum 20 from Maryland and a Snow plow from Massachusetts!

This hobby is killing me...Well it's not a PITA like finding parts for a Citroen 7B "Traction" 9CV like I did in another ex life...

If one used an inside caliper outside, on a cold day it might not read correctly.
As far as human hair, they read anywhere from .001-.002 depending on sex, ethnicity, color
and part of the body it was plucked from, so it would be in the vicinity of 60-125 hairs give or take a hare
--------or two, three, or four, well you know how that goes
at this time of the year.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
