Default 2086 PTO issue
Hi all,
New to the forum and have just picked up a 2086 with a 60inch deck. run great and no leaks but when i engage the pto, it kills the motor instantly. is this a sign of the pto locked up of is there an adjustment on the pto?

First, welcome to OCC....

What do you mean "kill's the engine..??

(A) Does that mean, that when the PTO it appears that something is dragging down the engine and it stalls out...??

(B) Does that mean, like someone flipped an electrical switch and it dies like turning the lights off...??

does the mower turn free by hand ? were you sitting on the seat ? if not then the safety switch on the seat would shut it down . if it's still hooked up ?

Welcome shumway072, I have a 2086 also and can tell you this, let the tractor warm up and have the throttle at least half to 3/4 full. Sorry just the nature of the beast...

Same deal with the Kubota engines both diesel and gas, they just don't seem to have enough low speed grunt to handle the Haban 60" mowers. The Kohler CH's seem to have more low speed grunt. Just my 2 cents.

Sam, I have a 54 inch deck on the 2068 but I do have a Haban that I have never tried but (what I think) is the different clutch is the key here...

Default pto issue
Thanks to all for sharing thoughts on the pto issue. First to be clear, the 2 times i tried to engage it it stopped the motor completely.( kind of like when you run a push mower over a stump!) Second i didnt have it fully throttled up so maybe that had something to do with it. i have taken the deck off and all pulleys are free and can be turned by hand on the main pulley. i did engage the pto with deck off and all seemed fine. perhaps i will put it back on and let it warm up and full throttle to see. thanks again for suggestions
