Default New Dude

Hello Cubbers....New Cuber here ....
I am the new owner of a 129 which needs a lot of TLC (and $$$$)
Been lurking awhile here getting educated and wanted to say thanks.....
Old dog learns something every day huh ?

So.........Taking down the K 321 and the last thing I take off is the blower
housing and find cracks in the bearing plate ! PTO comes off easy ,
steering wheel , etc and then I find this ...can't beleive it. (sorry no pics yet)
I do not find a part # for this . Am I overlooking something in the Kohler
Service manual ? Help, Help !
Am I a dummy for getting in to this ??? Got her for almost free , but
staring to feel some pain ......
What would you do ?????

Hey hydrocub

Nice to meet you.

Are you talking about the bearing plate that you need a # for ?
And are you sure you have a K 321?

Your 129 should have a K301A 12hp for wich the plate seems to be NLA.
But if you do indeed have a K321A 14hp the number is #KH 45-156-03

Question

Any chance of showing us a pic of that bearing plate? If I'd been asked before getting into this I'd have said the K301 and K321 plates were the same, but digging into Parts Lookup says no, K321 and K341 are the same. Reason I asked if you could post a pic is maybe we can get an opinion on if yours can be repaired.

Thanks Aroostook...will try on the pics . Flywheel is still on
but even then there are several cracks that "spyder "out from
the center ....Being such a light metal, don't see how it can be
repaired ....I would prefer a complete proper rebuild, rather than
making do , if you know what I mean .

I found you Two bearing plates this weekend at a fellows place that has a lot of cubs in his stable. They both looked spydered he said they all look like that. Is yours leaking? The man told me he has a few more around and would be willing to sell one.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
