Default New Cub Cadet mowers

Looking at possibly replacing my full time mower for my two plus acres of grass mowing. Anyone have or run the new mowers, are the tractors worth the price? I don't like the Cub zero turns at all so likely sticking to a tractor which ever brand I buy. Always liked the Husquvarna's and Toro but not sure about quality? Know Toro zero turns are nice, heavy built decks, when I last looked at them? I know the new Cubs are a little dorkey looking at times, but the square hood design grows on ya I think?
Looking at around a 16-18hp at least I think? Want a good 52" plus deck I think to cut down mowing times. Do they even make a bagging system anymore or do you have to go to a sweeper?
I haven't looked over the tractors mentioned in a few years, so they may have changed a lot and not like them?
My old 782 is getting tired and is getting more leaks in it than it should have. To repower it and fix everything up will certainly be time consuming and not cheap. Scared to think of what a new engine would cost for it!!!

Any input would be appreciated!

Asked my dealer last spring about an XT3 (think it was GSX model) .with 54" fabbed deck, was $5500 OTD as I recall.

I passed on it. Still mowing my 2+ with the 1861 and 782, although I dusted the cobwebs off my 86 and cut a little at my Parents Monday night.

I purchased a replacement engine from S.E.W. for the 1872, $1,700 and change delivered. Thinking that would be money well spent verses a new machine...
So couldn't you have a real good tractor, with some repairs, that you know is strong for under 2-G's?
New is always fun, but it's only new till you use it, then it's a used tractor.

Haven't gone as far as to determine my budget for it yet? Just kind of doing the research on it right now to see what to do? I would like nothing more than to keep the 782 running due to the fact of all the attachments I have for it. I would need a new engine for it as well as new carriage for the mower deck. Mine is so worn out. The rock shaft that it hooks to is also worn really bad, I assume from it just being worn and working on it? Was well worn when I bought it. Will be looking into a new engine for it for sure as well. But in Canada I am sure it will be expensive to replace? I am pretty sure it really isn't worth rebuilding the KT 17 II that is in it. Would be great to find a new kubota engine to throw in it. 3 cylinder diesel- sweet! Oh then back to reality - expensive!!!!

That's why I was asking about the quality of the new ones if I was to buy one of them for now to get my mowing done and work at fixing the 782 as I can afford it. I am sure my son would gladly take the new one when I was ready to get rid of it, so dumping it wouldn't be a problem.

Anyone know if there was troubles with them at all? I know I want a hydro with two separate pedals - hate the "paddle" type pedals

I see according to their Canadian web site, Toro no longer have a tractor, only zero turn types. So price wise, they are out! So I guess I do have a budget. Like to stay under or around 3 grand I guess??? Maybe a pipe dream??

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
