Default 2084 Engine run-on

I am having some issues with my 2084 dieseling on after it gets up to operating temperature. It is running and starting quite well with no smoke, but when I go to shut the machine off it will continue chugging on for as long as I let it keep going. If I pull the choke out, it will die within a second or two. The motor does not seem to be excessively hot, and I usually blow the mower out with an electric leaf blower after each use

It is not a terrible issue to deal with, but I have got almost everything else fixed and I would love to scratch this off the list too.

Thanks

Fuel shut off solenoid in the carb isn't working. Also likely it is running a little lean too. Probably best just to pull the carb and clean it and replace the solenoid. **Do check the wiring to be sure the the power going to the solenoid is being cut when the key is turned off.

The carburetor solenoid is on the firewall side of the carburetor. It should click when the key is turned on. I sometimes have the same shutdown issue with my 1864, 18 horsepower Kohler. I turn off the key while simultaneously pushing the throttle wide open. Seems to shut down with out dieseling most times. Don't forget to return the throttle to idle after the engine stops.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
