This is not my personal tractor but my uncles 127 he just got it last weekend it looks very nice has electric lift and runs/mows good we was running it today we mowed about 2 hours with it and all went well then suddeenly it just would not move either dierection motor was running but when you move the speed control lever nothing no noise no excessive play or tension
I looked underneath all linkage was intact and moving as it should (he worked handle and clutch while I watched down below). There is no evidence of oil loss clean no leaks underneath. I suggegested he change the filter and oil my theory was we got the fluid good and warmed up today and may have stirred up dirt or sludge in the oil. The prevois owner was mowing with this machine but had a small yard and this is probably the longest its been run in awhile. I was just wanting some other input and ideas as to the nature of the problem. Ive been trying to get my uncle to join OCC he collects them as well he actually helped me get started with all the tractors

Check the driveshaft and make sure it's turning the pump.

Definately check this. It could have sheared a roll pin. Though I've never had this happen on a hydro. I have had filters get slammed clogged after running a while. Good luck with it..

It sounds like the dowel pin sheared. At the back oh the engine, there's a slotted drive hub where the driveshaft slides in. A solid dowel pin fits into this slot and is what sends the power to the hydro. As the cubs get older, these slots in the drive hubs widen, allowing the engine to act like a hammer on the dowel pin. They are cheap and still available, so just replace the pin. Make sure to use the right part, if you cheat and use a bolt or a roll pin not only will it break again soon, but it will wallow out the hole in the driveshaft the pin goes into. Support the driveshaft, use a punch and hammer to drive what's left of the old pin out, and then put the new pin in. Good luck!

I agree with all the above. This happened to my 129, I got a cheap hardware store roll pin and it didn't last long. Order the correct pin as I did and you'll be a happy camper.

Ditto on the pin. It is a ¼ x 1 ¼ in. dowel pin. I sheared 2 roll pins in succession several years ago….PITA ! (didn't read the shop manual)

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
