Hi, I have a 1450 that I can't get the front wheel off. The bearing race is rusted to the spindle I think. I have used a penetrate and a piece of 3/4" pipe to tap on the inter race. Is the bearing avalable if I try to drill the old one? Also what about the inside bearing, can't drill that one out.

Bearings are available.
Get the outer bearing off, and the inside one will come out of the wheel hub and stay on the spindle if it too is rusted stuck. You can then remove the inner bearing however you see fit. |

Get the good ones, not the cheap $5 junk that the hardware store sells.
Pack 'em good w/wheel bearing grease. This is a maintenance item that should be done ever year for a heavily used machine. I usually place a "dam" of grease inside the hub before seating the bearings. Get a few shims the correct size for the outer race to get rid of any slop you may have (in and out) when installed. Machine bushings they are called, get the thinnest ones you can find, usually come in different thicknesses. These you can find at the hardware store. Nothing beats a Cub w/nice tight steering!! |

a drill bit won't drill the bearing , bump on the inside of the rim with a piece of wood and a hammer it should come off

I just drive my 129 until the bearings basically fall apart inside the wheel and then hammer out whatever is left of it. I know it's getting bad when the wheel starts to fall off....
(Sorry...couldn't resist...I don't make this stuff up either.....just ask my IH dealer. I make it a point to keep at least half-a-dozen bearings on hand at all times! One of these days I'll buy new wheels)

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
