Its loose and vague and needs attention. I have searched the posts and have seen methods to tighten up my steering etc. There is the bearing addition to make it turn easier, flatten a plate, adjust the set screw..but thats not my point of this post. I searched ebay, found this thing
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cub-Cadet-Ro...AAAOSw2s1Uy~6n $933.00 and he's sold 28. The goods news is he has 6 available. This looks like something I might need but I think he has made a mistake on the price. Do I need this enough to make him a real offer and if so what $$ amount is real for him to make a profit and me get what I might need? He's got a lot of good stuff for sale..probably a member on this forum.

I had bought the wrong kit for my 1811. It may be the one you need for the 1450. I'll dig it out and take a picture if you want? Let me know.

I remember a while back someone posting about crazy prices on ebay. Something to do with the seller running out of stock so they push the price sky high so they can maintain the listing until their stock is replenished, then the price is lowered to reasonable levels.
I imagine you can get most of the parts from Cadet, I think someone here even has a list of Deere part numbers that can be used to rebuild the steering box--or is that hydro parts that interchange . I bought thrust bearings (I think from McMaster). Some folks use an open bearing and two hardened washers. I've put the ball bearing on 3 or 4 Cadets and am not certain it is really worth the trouble. I even did it on a 982--that one is a project of its own as it takes a different bearing and you have to modify the frame.

Thanks for the responses. There is always more to the story than what first appears. Clay I would like to see what you have, maybe I can relieve you of some non essential parts.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
