Default Cub cadet 1200 seat bottoms out!!

Hi, new member here, so take it easy on me, LOL!

I have a Cub Cadet 1200 and the seat springs just dont have enough strength for my 270lb fat butt.

Now, I know I could lose some weight, but Im looking for an alternative.

Anyone have any suggestions? You can see what Im talking about in the pic.

The springs are probably just weak. I have one tractor that they bottom out on but none of the others do. New springs are available, the part number is 703-0068.

One of my dad's friends was morbidly obese...he weighed ~400lbs. I remember he had a John Deere 300 series and could not sit in the seat....so he removed the seat and springs, laid a carpet remnant across the fenders to run the tractor No back rest either. Yikes!

Thanks! Its kind of a 20 footer. The PO was a little sloopy with it. The colors are not "exact".
I am in the process of replacing the clutch, solid mounting the motor and just fixed the sloppy gear shifter (cup was broke at the weld on the shifter lever) today.

Its not terrible though. No rust, thats the main thing. It ran great before I tore it apart. We will see how it runs with the new clutch.

I dont think I would be too fond of riding on carpet, LOL! I may have to though, lol

I guess after 40+ years, they could loose thier tension. I might end up replacing them if I cant come up with another fix. I have a little more money in the tractor than I like to, so trying to find a cheap fix first.

Thanks for the part number, I will write it down

Just throwing this out there. Get a couple old auto valve springs, and install them between the C springs. Don't know, they may bottom out as well, but all you're out is time, cause I'm pretty sure a scrap yard, or a friend who's a gear head should have some lying around...

Take a smallish front tire with tube inside but no rim, put it under the seat.
Then adjust air pressure to suit you.
Presto,
you have a redneck air ride assist.
Go ahead and laugh but it works very well for a fellow I know with a bad back that appreciates the softer ride.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
