86 deck
Hey guys. I was wondering if a 86 would handle a 44A deck?

Cub cadets 100, 125, 86, 108, 109, 128, 129, 129, 149, 149, 169, 1450, 1650 and a handfull of parts tractors. #40 box blade, ih back blade, rear ih rock rake, #2 cart, windbreaker soft cabs, windbreaker hard cab, cozy cab, kwikway loader , wards corn planter, brinly plows, culitvator, rear blade, disc and the usual decks, snowblowers and 2 tillers

Nick,
I don't believe the 8 hp engine would be able to handle the 44" deck.

I run a 44A on my 1250, I wouldn't want to run one with anything smaller than a 12hp.

Ok. I guess if I get this 86 I'm looking at I'll have to stick with the 38

I had an 800 with a 44A and it was fine as long as the grass wasn't tall. On the 38s, the outer blades have to spin REALLY fast since the blades are so short, and they pull harder than the larger decks as a result. The 800 handled the 44" deck a bit better than the 86 I had handled the 38" deck. The 800 was also a pretty fresh rebuild, but still...I think as long as the engine is in decent shape it'd work ok.

thanks matt. and it wouldnt be my main mower. it would be a back up/use it every once in a while mower. it would probably most of the time pull the yard trailer around.
